Everyone's entitled to their opinion.
Here's the deal: I'm pretty certain the founding fathers did not intend for this country to go so far downhill. In talking with my friend Wendel on Friday, he said something that really hit me: It doesn't matter who we vote for anymore, no one has our intentions in mind! It's all, "How can I boost my campaign; how can I help other countries; how can I make my paycheck and Congress' paychecks bigger?" He said that we aren't really even Americans anymore! We've mortgaged our country out to other countries -- mainly China; we might as well call ourselves Chinese!
What is this administration doing for US?? NOTHING! Yes, John McCain would not have been much better, but I voted, so I have the right to complain about this crap that Obama's pulling. Health care for all. Yes, I like that idea; however, making it a law that we have to have health insurance is going a little far. On top of that, I'm paying for health insurance for people who are in this country ILLEGALLY!!!! That's what really gets me going. Why the heck should I pay for their insurance when they could file the paperwork to get a green card and become legal citizens.
Not only that, I just flat out don't like him. I don't care what people say. I heard something so true in class today. Two of my classmates were talking in the hallway about all of this. One of them says,
"Hey, what would have happened in Obama was white?"
"John McCain would have won the election."
That is so true.
Oh, I also found the coolest song to describe how I feel. "Uprising" by Muse.
"Rise up and take the power back, it's time the fat cats had a heart attack. You know that their time is coming to an end; it's time to unify and watch our flag ascend! They will not force us; they will stop degrading us; they will not control us. We will be victorious!"
You know, this country was fought for. People died escaping a country they hated. It sucks that we have to have someone controlling out economy. How BIG of our president to decrease Congress' paychecks so that some of them make "only" a million or so. I'm so tired of our country being called a democracy when it isn't. I'm not blaming the downfall of our country -- the recent presidents of the past have had their hand in it, too, but he's the one that's ruining my future with my husband, and the future for our children.

Without starting anything, I would like to point out there are worse governments out there. I prefer this one at the moment to a place like the Philippines or North Korea. Or Uganda even. Ours is a broken system that does need some serious repairs. The country is in that strange transitional phase which is very much like an oil slick.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I don't place the blame with the Obama. He is operating within a crooked frame, doing what he can. I think being the Leader of a country takes an incredibly brave person. Decisions have to be made, and not everyone is going to be happy with them. I think most of the issues lay with the hoops that a certain piece of legislation has to jump through and the revisions it suffers at the hands of the Senate/Congress. Too many hands in the pot burn the soup or something like that.
And if Obama was white, I think he still would have won. McCain didn't have the same charisma that Obama did and McCain's running mate... well... She... yeah. I think it is the same reason that JFK won his election, a presence that draws others in and enraptures an audience to listen.
*Just my opinion of course. What do I know? Call me a pacifist and a socialist, and ship me off to hang out with George Orwell. lol*

I agree with you that it does take a brave person to run the country, and that we are a better country than the ones you stated; however, I think we continue to spiral downhill in the war though we seem to be beginning to win the battle.
I just don't like the man's choices. That was what this post was about.
Oh I know that. Discusses opinions in a civil manner is fun and tricky. :) I think my point might have gotten lost in my ramblings.
ReplyDeleteI was just saying that it isn't only his choices making the results and that I think the system as a whole is to blame for its own downward spiral. It take an incredible amount of reform to fix things, but not everyone wants to play nice. There is always going to be conservatives who want things the way they used to be/to stay the same and there is always going to be liberals who want a massive overhaul (at the extreme ends of the spectrum, but they are always the most outspoken so that s why they are talked about most). Finding the middle of the two doesn't do any good though because you end up in this strange mashed standstill. It will be interesting to see how everything works outs in the next four years or so. It has the chance to get better or get worse.
