Alice in Wonderland

In the words of Andy Bernard, "I'm not insightful enough to be a movie critic." However, I do know when a movie is not good. This was NOT the case for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. I went last night to see it with my good friend, Madison, and her mom down at Kent Station. Right from the beginning, I was in awe of the costuming! Perhaps my favorite costume from the entire movie was the red and black dress Alice wore in the castle of the Bloody Red Queen. Yep, that one. It was gorgeous!

As always, Helena Bonham Carter was genius. She's really a pro at what she does! So is Johnny Depp. No surprise, he was fantastic as the Mad Hatter.

Unfortunately, the critics don't really care for this movie. I've noticed that I tend to like things they don't, though. I liked it a lot, and recommend it to everyone. :)

Dear World,

I thought it might be time for just a small vent; sometimes it's more information for people, but to me, it seems like a vent. So bear with me just a little longer. I apologize in advance.

I've still been having some back problems, but thanks to Biofeedback, it's been getting a lot better! I LOVE Biofeedback!! It's been a serious lifesaver. However, my spinal specialist, Dr. Krengal -- or Wally, as Kayden likes to call him -- thinks that maybe my fusion in my back could be either irritated or interrupted. Who knows? Well, he does, I think. I have an appointment with him next month, and hopefully we'll find out then. Truthfully, if it is interrupted and will have to be fixed down the road, I just want to get it fixed now. Make sense? What if I'm pregnant down the road, and my baby kicks me wrong and causes damage? Or something like that. It's just not something I want to take a chance on. Plus it causes pain, and I'd like to get rid of that if at all possible. :) Hopefully we'll find out for sure on April 1st! Dr. Bruener, my pain specialist, says that I have the "A team" -- her, Dr. Lewin (cardiologist), Dr. Krengal (spine specialist), Dawn (geneticist), Rea (Biofeedback tech), and Dr. Jinguji (orthopedist). I like 'em. :) They're good at what they do, and they're concerned about all of this.


It's weird to know that coming up next month is the year mark of what caused all of this to happen in the first place: my car accident. I really wish that woman wouldn't have changed her story about how she was shoved into me by another car (FALSE). She had previous damage to her back side of the car, and lied to the insurance companies about it. We would have been able to avoid a lot of crap. Oh well. It's life that people get scared and change their stories. Sometimes I can't help but wonder if she hadn't hit me, would something have happened down the road? It is a blessing, though, because without all of this, we wouldn't have found my dural ectasia. Sometimes the Lord has a weird, roundabout way of helping us grow.

Mormon Messages

At Stake Conference this past weekend, there was a really good talk given on how we can use our facebook or blogs to explain what we believe in. I thought this was a great idea! She told us about a website where the church posts short videos about the church, or about what we believe in. I spent a good majority of my day watching some of these videos, and found them wonderful! I wanted to share my favorite one I found so far. It's called Finding Hope. Though I can't post the video itself to my blog, please don't disregard it. Take the eight minutes and watch it. It's about a man who found hope in Christ after surviving 9/11.

I found it moving. If you don't, that's okay, but don't go into it ready to mock it just because it's what a Mormon believes. Open your mind and your heart, and no matter what your faith-based belief system is, I'm sure you'll find it at the very least, a nice video.

Time For a Fresh Start

So I've been SUPER horrible at blogging with wordpress. I mean, really bad. So I thought I'd start over! Plus, Blogger allows you to have the cute backgrounds, and wordpress doesn't. :P

Life has been really good. Tyler's been gone for nine months, now, and that's flown by! School? I love school so much! I performed my first ECG (previously called EKG) yesterday, and I actually got a good reading.

I've been doing some Biofeedback to help with the back pain, and as of late, I've been pain free! Hooray!

Other than that, really nothing is going on.

Oops. I lied. Courtney and I are finger/brush painting a sheet. We're pretty talented, and yes, there will be pictures that do come when we're finished. I have to learn how to draw Mario and Luigi. Maybe Yoshi would come in handy, too, since we're painting the front cover of the new Mario game. Dorks? You bet! But we love every minute of it!

Since I'm not so good at adding pictures, I thought I'd practice with some from Tyler's last area. I don't know about you, but I really enjoy looking at my missionary friends' pictures. Hopefully you don't really mind. :)

He visited the set of The Office. I know, kind of weird that it's filmed in California, but isn't everything, pretty much?! The one with the car is at the Pimp My Ride museum. The last time he sent his card home, the majority of the pictures were from this museum.
